The Nurenberg Family | Westphalia MI
I was so thrilled to be invited to take family photos for the Nurenberg Family! They were planning a gathering for Jim’s 80th birthday (Happy Birthday Jim!) and took some time out of their day to get updated family pictures. Here are a few of my favorites from the day!
For the next photos, I told the groups to do something fun…Who do you think won this little contest?
I had so much fun in my short time with the Nurenberg family, what a great clan to hang around!

I met up with this family on their families property just outside of Portland, MI. When I pulled up, I knew it was the perfect location for photos. Off a dirt road with old red barns and fields are a photographers dream!
I quickly got to work and figured out that Marcus, like the average one year old, was going to keep me on my toes! We captured some great shots along with some fun candids (thanks, Marcus!). Here are a few of my favorites from their session!
Marcus got so excited when he got a hold of grass!

Spring Mini Sessions
The weather in Michigan has been sketchy lately so I was beginning to get really worried when we began approaching April 20th for mini sessions and still had snow on the ground.
In the week leading up to the mini sessions, the snow cleared and made way for a lot of rain which is still not a great idea for photographs! Somehow we got lucky and the weekend of the minis ended up being beautiful. There were many of us that were so happy!
While it was a lot warmer, everyone had a lot of wind to deal with. If you are a lady, you definitely know that this can cause issues too. We powered through and got a few great images for everyone that came! Here are a few of my favorites from the day!
The Goodman Family
The Trimmer Family
The Thelen Family
The Badgero Family
The Hatfield Family
The Tingley’s
If you are interested in a mini session, make sure to check back during the fall!
The Martin Family
I have known the Martin Family for many years. As a matter of fact, they helped watch my kids during the day when I would go to my “day job.” After all this time, the Martin’s are still some of my kids’ favorite people and both of my children jumped at the chance to come with me to their session just so they could see them. I just love this family and am so glad that they asked me to take some updated family pictures for them. Here are a few of my favorites from their session!
Thank you to the Martin Family for choosing me to take their family portraits!

The Logel Family
I love when large families can get together and do family sessions! This is a great opportunity to get a large family photo but to also break down into smaller groups and get a variety of other family portraits too. The Logel Family did just that this Thanksgiving weekend when they were able to be all together. I am not going to lie, getting a group shot of all of these kiddos was quite a feat and there was a lot of adults making silly noises for the duration of the session, but I think we got some keepers! Here are a few of my favorites from their session!
Special thank you to Escape Rooms in Portland for letting us use their facility for a few of the photos!
Thank you to the Logel Family for allowing me to capture your family together, it’s always a nice time!

Portland, Michigan Family Pictures
I got to meet up with Dan, Brittany, Brody, Elijah, Jo and Benson on a cold winter day at their home just outside of Portland.
A persons home is the absolute best place to get photos taken because it provides something that is unique and meaningful to the family. A lot of times people do not realize the beauty that they have in their own backyards for photos, so when I arrived for these family photos I got right to work to help the family choose some great spots! Here are a few of my favorites from their session!
I couldn’t leave the photo of Brittany’s favorite tree out, isn’t it neat?
Thank you for having me out to your home to photograph your family, it was so much fun!

The Holm Family
The end of October has brought a lot of rainy days to Michigan, but that didn’t stop the Holm family from going outside for their family photos. We met up on a rainy Saturday ready to work through it. We gained some breaks in the weather and some sprinkles but we managed to work through it! By the end of the session everyone was so cold but we stayed long enough to get some good family pictures! Here are a few of my favorites!
Thank you goes out to the Holm family for meeting up with me to get their family photos done!

The Mitchell Family
Last week the weather in Michigan was a gorgeous 75 degrees, this week the weather took a turn and decided a little fall weather might be a good thing! This makes for windy days and in the Mitchell's families case, a hard time keeping your hair in one place! We still spent some time getting some great family portraits for them! Here are a few of my favorites!
Little miss Hadley was the star of the show though because she is celebrating something pretty special soon!
She sure kept us running after her! Being one and on the move is all the rage for this little one!
And look at this custom diaper that was made! So cute!
Thank you to the Mitchell Family for coming out and getting your pictures taken on such a windy day! I loved meeting all of you!

The Fedewa Family
I met up with the Fedewa family on a rainy day at their home in Portland. We had to wait for the rain to pass before we got started, but it turned out to be a beautiful day for photos! The best part was that the two young boys had so much energy that they could hardly contain themselves for family pictures. We got to play some games and make one another laugh while getting a few great captures of them. Here are a few of my favorites from their session!
Thank you to the Fedewa Family for letting me come out and take over your yard and have fun with the kiddos!

The Flaherty Family
I love when I get to photograph families together and the Flaherty Family was definitely a family that continued to make this feeling so true for me. Getting photos with your family is so important because time goes so fast and we tend to lose track of where we have been. I am so happy to have had the opportunity to photograph the Flaherty Family so that they have these special portraits and memories to keep for years to come.
Here are a few of my favorites from their session!
We spent some time having fun with the little guy, but we also broke it down to basics where mom and dad got a chance to cherish a quick moment together as well.
We quickly got back to it though because a two year old doesn't sit still for too long! I can be just as quick though because I was able to capture a few great smiles and giggles!
I am sure that after this pictures, he was up and running to the next spot he could find! He is so darn cute!
Thank you to the Flaherty Family for coming out and getting your portraits taken. I hope you can look back on these for many years and remember the sweet memories that you are making each and everyday together!

Lindsay and Casey | Grand Ledge Engagement Photos
I met up with Lindsay and Casey in Grand Ledge, Michigan to photograph them for their engagement. Photographing people can tell me a lot about how much fun they have together, the happiness that radiates from this couple is amazing.
Lindsay says that she and Casey met when she was 19 and working at the Shell in Portland. He came in to pay for his gas and he noticed her right away, but she wasn’t looking for anything new. It took her a few more times to notice him and says that "when I did I was smitten and I have been ever since"
They say that they honestly love doing anything together. Whether it’s going on an adventure or staying home in their PJs. No matter what, they are always laughing and having fun. They explain that they are one another's best friend.
Lindsay explained to me how they got engaged and the few weeks leading up to it. Here is what she said:
"A few weeks prior, he mentioned that he would be nervous to ever ask my dad for my hand so I was suspicious. Then on a random Wednesday, he came into my place of work and convinced my manager to let me come to the lobby so he could give me a present. He handed me a T-shirt he had made that said “does this ring make me look engaged”. When I turned, he got on his knee. But honestly, I cannot remember what he said or even what I said. But I knew my answer was yes, even if I can’t remember saying it. We then went home, ate pizza, watched The Emperors New Groove and went to bed. It was perfect.
When I asked each of them what they love most about the other, they each replied.
Casey "I love how much fun we have together and how much she makes me laugh. I love her sense of humor.“
Lindsay "I think he’s hilarious. Anything he copies is ten times funnier when he does it. At least that my opinion. He always makes me laugh."
I know that this couple will spend many love-filled happy years full of laughter together! Join me in saying congratulations on their engagement below!

The Logel Family | Portland MI Family Photos
I love meeting up with the Logel Family! Each time I have photographed the family, they have tried new and different ideas. This year, they thought they would try a beautiful Michigan winter session. As always, Michigan tends to surprise us with the weather because the day of their session was supposed to warm up enough to make it comfortable (as far as Michigan standards). While the air did warm up a little, the bitter wind was a force to be reckoned with. Winter wind in Michigan can make all the difference in how cold it feels outside, so needless to say, the Logel family had to brave the freezing cold temps (and wind)! For how cold they were, they did awesomely, you can't even tell!
We had the vehicles very close for those times when people needed to get warm again. We took advantage of the situation by grabbing one of those moments just for Doug and Amy!
and of course the kids had time of their own too...
In the interest of full disclosure, winter sessions are very cold. In this cold, a nice, bitter, swift wind sometimes occurs. That is when you get a gem just like this one below! :)
Thank you to the Logel family for braving the cold with me!
