A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
People use phrases like “I’ll get to it” or “Maybe someday” a lot in regard to a wide variety of things. Planning vacations, visiting old friends, scheduling appointments, pursuing dreams, etc. While all of these things are important and shouldn’t be put on the back burner, things get in the way and we run out of time. And that’s the very reason those phrases and photography do not belong in the same sentence.
We can’t stop or change time, but we can preserve it through memories. Photographs provide the perfect keepsakes for our favorite moments. We may not have enough time to do all of the things we want to do, but it’s important to capture the things we do have time for. Being able to look back on life’s most precious events is priceless, both in time and money. You’ll never regret spending a couple seconds to snap some pictures or paying the fee for a photography session.
Photography does more than document memories, it also highlights legacies. Multi-generational family photos show where a group of people started, where they have gone, and where they will continue to go. They depict a remarkable leader and all of those who have the honor to follow in their footsteps. These pictures emphasize the bond between the oldest and youngest, and all of the people in between that fostered that connection. Where else can you find that?
Large family photos aren’t the only type of photos that demonstrate legacy. Having tangible things to remember a loved one by after they have passed is the greatest gift in times of grief. A series of photos featuring this person reflect who they were and how they would want those traits to be carried on. What did they spend their time doing? How did they show their care for others? What types of things brought them the most joy? Where were their favorite places? All of these things can be found in pictures, and what a powerful way to witness their impact!
It’s important to capture those things before it is too late. There is no such thing as too many pictures, especially when you’re facing times where you need them most.
It might seem silly in the moment to spend time documenting, but later on, gratitude will override that feeling. Having mementos for years and years to come is a kind of joy and satisfaction that you can’t find anywhere else.
Let’s work together to preserve the memories and the people in the pictures. Reach out to me to schedule a session, now is the time.
